I started hiking in June 2022 after watching hikers on the PCT. I knew I could never undertake such a long distance hike but I knew we had a lot of stunning scenery in the UK. I started the Ethel Challenge June 2022 and completed it in March 2023. If it were not for covid and the British weather I could have completed it sooner. But it isn't about speed or the destination, it's about the journey.
After the Ethel Challenge I decided to undertake The 88 Trig Point Challenge. There was quite a few pointless Ethels and with the new challenge I knew there would be a goal, a view, a Trig as the culmination of the hike. The difference between these two challenges for me is my planning. I will be, wherever possible, hiking circular routes and taking in more views, more scenery, and just taking my time.
And finally, I would like to thank my wife Amanda for believing in me when I didn't. Amanda, without you I am nothing, with you I am complete.

Hello all, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for still being here. I have had quite serious issues with my health and an operation to cut a mass out. I'm still not 100%, but when will I ever be? I thought, you know what, let's work with what I've got. With that in mind, I'm out on Sunday, and on Monday, for the first time in a year, there will be a video. As I have said, thank you for sticking around. You will never know quite how much I appreciate that. See you soon.

May 2025, Island Princess. Panama Canal Transit.
When we were exiting through the Panama Canal we passed this guy. They were waving at us until I shouted over to them......
'HAVE YOU COME HERE TO INVADE?'
They stopped waving and Amanda told me off. Sorry guys and girls, I do respect the work of the US Coastguard, but it was just like when we were berthed near Ho Chi Min City facing the jungle and I shouted 'GOOD MORNING VIETNAM!!!' Then ran inside the cabin. These things seem to just happen to me. The jungle was that dense. No wonder they never found Charlie.

Hi Chris, what a wonderful experience! A cruise, wow! Shame about the rain and the chilly weather but everything else looked fabulous. You can't do anything about the weather - except make the best of it. Your cabin was really comfortable and you went to some wonderful destinations. I think it was lovely that you shared your holiday with us. Thank you!
