Swiftologist WHAT VIDEO WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE THIS WEEK? leave your suggestions!! (3 months ago)

Swiftologist Hi guys!! I just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who watched and left such thoughtful comments on my recent video essay about the JFK Jr. Ryan Murphy show. I was pretty sure it was gonna flop because it’s so far from what I typically talk about on here, but to my amazement, you guys are really fucking with it & leaving some of the nicest, most thought-provoking comments I’ve ever had. One comment that really stuck with me was from Veronica, @chimeinnow88: “This feels like a significant addition in your body of work. I feel like this review has marked an expansion that those of us who have been following you for a while will be able to look back and recognize at some point in the future. It marks a change. Loved it!” Writing this script made me feel so alive. It reconnected me with the kind of writing I’ve always wanted to do and reminded me why I love making these essays in the first place. I really do think of this channel as a body of work, and I take that commitment seriously. My goal has always been to write thoughtful, constructive criticism and to expand into any corner of culture and society that sparks my curiosity. Of course, I’ll still be applying all of this to my pop girl essays (you know I’ll always have things to say there lol), but it means so much that you guys stick around and ride with me no matter what I do. One of my biggest fears early on was that if I ever branched out beyond Taylor, everyone would stop caring...I still remember uploading that first Lana video like 😬, but I’m so glad I was wrong. I’m just REALLY grateful to have such an intelligent, curious audience who supports the work as long as it’s good — which is always my goal. I’m still figuring out the right balance of content types (we love a kiki, but I also can’t be doing 10k-word scripts every week 😭), so expect business as usual until after tour is over. Once that’s wrapped, I’m gonna start experimenting and trying out new ideas I’m really excited about. Also, on top of all that, I’ve been working on my book (!!), which has been another huge creative recharge. Writing in that longer format has definitely influenced how I think about my videos. It's all starting to feel part of the same bigger project, which is really energizing. Anyway...just thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Doing this JFK Jr. video reminded me how much I love this work, and reading your responses made me feel genuinely connected to why I started making essays in the first place. I can’t wait to keep building from here 💫 (I stole this jb meme format from mr fantano the bald headed scallywag hehe) (3 months ago)

Rewatched this since the debut of Show Girl, and feel more strongly than ever that this album was a masterpiece. Her writing is rich and layered. Not to mention the lore.

I’m thankful for the 1975 fans helping to decode some of the references I didn’t know. It’s really a group effort lol
