Rail Focus Sorry things have been a bit quiet of late. I've been really struggling with the heat, too much work and other things. It's likely there won't be a video this Sunday. But Im planning to release a video next Thursday or Friday 23rd/24th. It's an unusual day to release a video, but it should make sense. Being an unusual time means it'll be important that Subscribers watch it on or close to the day of release if possible. I'd really appreciate it if you look out for and watch it asap. šŸ™‚ I'm also working on a video based on the site visit to Brackley the other week. It will explore an #HS2 subject which isn't often talked about, so keep an eye out for that (11 days ago)

Rail Focus So, that's the proposed East West Rail route mostly wrapped up. If you missed any episodes then don't forget to check out the EWR playlist šŸ‘‡ I am planning on releasing a final video so I can briefly discuss the plans to electrify the line. If you have any pressing questions that you'd like me to cover then let me know in the comments. Please keep the questions brief and don't be offended if I'm unable to answer your specific question within the video. There's only so much information I can fit into a 10 minute video. This is quite impressive! Fair play to them for getting it done so fast.

Not only was the entire project incredible to see, the fact they got the new bridge in place AND opened the M6 motorway 13 hours ahead of schedule is just outstanding.

Motorway was reopened at 16:00, 13 hrs ahead of schedule. Excellent work by all involved.

A major project success should be declared a national holiday

I was on the M6 heading Carlisle & came off at Junc 39 which the diversion followed through a few local villages and the last village due to the traffic stopping I was right next to the M6 Bridge being knocked down on Sunday afternoon about 4pm, I could easily see lots off Excavators working still removing the debris, I only thought then to myself there is no way the M6 will open on the Monday which to my surprise was, The Workers must have worked their Socks off to do this and I have to Salute them, Well done guys, you all deserve a medal, Just a pity some other firms doing work on our motorways didn't take a leaf out of your book.

I’m in awe of the skills required to plan, create and install something like this. Fascinating stuff.

I heard on local news that the M6 reopened to traffic at 4pm on Sunday afternoon which is really good given that the closure was planned to last until 5am on Monday morning. Being finished 13 hours early is a great achievement.

I only found out about this when watching a YouTuber, who was travelling on an Avanti train from Wigan to Carlisle, via the Settle to Carlisle line. I was having to travel from Scotland to S W England on Saturday 3rd January, so got to the M6 at J40, at about 4pm. It took some 45 minutes in the queue to exit the M6, then another 45 minutes before traffic eased on the A66 eastbound. I opted to continue on the A66 to the A1 at Scotch Corner and go southbound, rather than return to the M6 via Brough, at J39. The A1 was completely clear, so it was the right choice and only added 10 miles to my journey.
