Paradox Interactive to Publish Urban Games’ Transport Fever 3 in 2026.
It's just been announced (I've just received a press release) that Paradox Interactive will publish Transport Fever 3. The partnership pertains to the publishing of Transport Fever 3, but it does not include intellectual property rights. Transport Fever 3 will launch for PC, PlayStation®5, and Xbox Series X|S in 2026 and as far as I can see the press release seems to read they will publish on all platforms.
Urban games said

Together, we will continue on the path we have set for Transport Fever 3 and deliver the greatest possible value to the players, for which this partnership will have nothing but positive effects. We are honored to join forces with such a respected publisher, and Transport Fever 3 is now on an even stronger track to reach its full potential when it launches later this year,” said Basil Weber, Founder and CEO at Urban Games.
Paradox said
“Transport Fever 3 is a perfect fit for the Paradox portfolio and we’re incredibly impressed by what Urban Games has created in this series,” said Mattias Rengstedt, CBO at Paradox Interactive. “The game matches every aspect of what we’re looking for in a new title, offering a deep and endless experience that we think players will love. We’re excited to take this important step for the series together with Urban Games and ship, haul, fly, and truck Transport Fever 3 across the world.”

Key features in Transport Fever 3.
- Three distinct game modes:
- Campaign (missions with storylines inspired by real-world scenarios)
- Tycoon (open-ended with customisable complexity)
- Sandbox (maximum creative freedom to build as players wish)
- Day and night cycle for the first time in the series
- New off-shore industries completing a total of over 30 different production facilities
- Dynamic city growth and player reputation system, cities won’t grow unless well served
- Upgraded map generation to make temperate, desert, tropical and alpine biomes unique
- Helicopters and cargo trams added for the first time
- Extensive cross-platform modding tools and mod-browser included
- Difficulty settings fully customisable to create the perfect challenge for every player
- Contracts offered to players during the game to provide risk vs reward opportunities
- New warehouses and maintenance mechanics allow for enhanced infrastructure
- New tycoon gameplay features including a progression system and buildable landmarks
We don't have a lot of information at present. There will be a closed beta before launch where some players will be able to test the game.
Reading through the press release it does seem...
a: To be a single player game.
b. Trains will continue to flip at a terminus.
c. There'll be more industry chains
Essentially my first impression of it is that's it's an evolution of the current game rather than a revolution. Given that the current game has good ratings it's not hard to see why they might opt for that strategy but we'll have to wait for more information to really find out.
Reading through I'm fairly certain that trains will flip at a terminus station as I'm pretty sure they would hype it up in their press release if that had been changed. I was thinking the other day how this would be achieved. At present routes comprise the loco and wagons & carriages. If the loco was removed from the route and only the wagons & carriages were added to a route and then you allocated a loco or locos to pull the carriages after a route is created, it would separate the loco from the route and in theory allow at a terminus for the loco to uncouple and perhaps either run around to the other end for a return journey or even for it to go do another job on another route whilst these wagons are being filled. It would add for an extra element of complexity. You could perhaps have 20 routes but only 10 locos that share the jobs.
Even so I'm still excited. The screenshots looks nice. The video is obviously curated and should not be taken as the final game will look. But we have confirmation the new game is being worked on and that it should come out next year.

I too find Trainz' trackbuilding tools to be the most user friendly and intuitive, however I feel it needs to be said that it's hardly a fair comparison when you obviously have a good level of experience using Trainz but not the others.

Out of all of them I would say Trainz is the best at combining ideas, it has great driver controls, scenarios, cool animated scenery, incredibly diverse industries system, route building aswell as a faithful modding community
